Wood fired pizzas and housemade baked gnocchi? This Saint Lucy is quite the remarkable influence! Well, who is that?
Well I can tell you! A fiery 4th century Sicilian, whose bravery, heroism and typically gory end (google it) saw her become sainted and now associated with all things light and illuminative - and trust me when I say, the impressive outdoor setting does not stray far from that. With a menu and restaurant inspired solely by her traditional Italian heritage, along with a hint of Australian cuisine, I knew that I was in for a treat.
Right from the bat, I was extremely impressed with their lovely hospitality and open-heartedness. But I know we all just want to hear about the food! I was taken on an incredible journey, down a river of new and exciting tastes where I got to try foods that I had never even heard of before! (Something new for me). The menu has a wonderful variety that suits anybody’s needs - even boasting a wonderful variety of Vegan foods. So no matter what your dietary requirements, Saint Lucy will happily attend to your dietary needs!
I was impressed with their selections of entree items such as the “Croquettes” with spinach, mozzarella, parmesan, lemon and sorrel, along with their tasty “Parsley Crumbed Squid” with lemon and parmesan. Great servings with just enough to warm my pallet for the flavours to come. Then, came their famous wood fire pizzas - and I can tell you, it was worth the wait. I was spoilt for choice with many pizza options but I have to say, the “Marcello” was my favourite. Boasting a combination of tomato, buffalo mozzarella, parma ham, rocket and balsamic, this simple combination of ingredients was a party in my mouth. One dish that I really did admire, was their “Housemade Baked Gnocchi” - it was almost as if comfort food had been revolutionised into this dish.
The prices are a little more on the expensive side, but all is forgiven for the fact that their ingredients are fresh and the food is made with a love you can’t find anywhere else. With a variety of foods to please everyone, Saint Lucy will leave you feeling really satisfied and just simply happy. I guess carbs do make the world go around - or I guess in my world it does!
Wonderful traditional Italian food with a detectable taste for freshness and inviting new flavours. Great aura with such lovely and accommodating staff.
