Reverend's Fine Coffee

Fit Out8.6

Praise the Lord for Reverend's Fine Coffee because we all know if we weren't blessed with their heavenly beverages, we'd all be doomed.

Recently the humble abode of bare brick, the finest of aromatics and Brisbane's best bagel (Haloumi on everything, please!) fostered some big changes when expanding to nights. Located on the infamous Brunswick St in Fortitude Valley, the cafe has gone beyond providing coffee and breakfast, to extending their regular menu and trading hours, serving whiskey, wine and craft beer. Our prayers have been answered! Blackbook stopped by Reverend's to nibble on the new breakfast menu.

In the comfort of modest seating and soft, natural light the lovely staff took us through what was on offer in regards to coffee. The great thing about Reverend's Fine Coffee is that they have perfected the craft of specialty coffee and are 100% happy to help you decide what beverage would be right for your thirsty taste buds. With regularly rotating beans, we decided to try both an espresso and a pour-over on the available guest coffees.

Featured on espresso was a guest blend with notes of rain water and pineapple. It was a well-balanced espresso with an acidic finish. Favouring the pour-over, we indulged in a Columbia by Vintage Coffee Roasters (formally co-roasted Uncle Joe's). The brew had a light body with notes of tropical fruits and cocoa.

Reverend's makes an art out of comfort food. From cheese toasties and bagels, to stewed meats and bircher muesli, it's like your Mum's cooking... but better! As soon as our meals were placed down we knew it was more than meets the eye. One of our chosen meals, Spaghetti, was constructed on a bed of Vienna with house-made heirloom tomato sauce that consumed your mouth with a rich nostalgia. The quality of the house-made products made the entire experience a whole world better.

For more comfort we turned to the Ox Cheek. Presented in a homely clay pot, the slow cooked ox cheek and potato with onion jam and poached eggs replicated a Sunday Roast. The beef was rich, and slightly sweet. Accompanied by soft gooey eggs, the little pot was overflowing with flavour to provoke a the fondest of memories.

As much as we loved Reverend's before, there's no way we can ever get enough now.

Beautifully crafted coffee and a menu of the best comfort food you will ever have.
