Fresh, high quality Southeast Asian cuisine has come to the eastern suburb of Tingalpa with the opening of Pawpaw Asian Kitchen.
Pawpaw Cafe has become a mainstay in Woolloongabba over the last few years; known for serving fresh and modern southeast Asian cuisine. By opening their new location east of the CBD they will give even more people access to their delicious, healthy food.
The cafe has a really casual, relaxed vibe. It is beautifully decorated with a gorgeous mural on the wall by artist Caroline Gasteen, plants hanging from the ceiling. As Pawpaw Asian Kitchen has more of a focus on delivery and take away there only have seating capacity for 30 people.
Pawpaw Cafe is well known for creating innovative takes on Thai, Indonesian, Vietnamese & Malaysian dishes. The Pawpaw Asian Kitchen continues this tradition with a large range of menu options to suit all palates. We were lucky enough to sample a large selection of their new menu over the course of our visit.
There are far too many to mention but our favourite was the BBQ Pork Vermicelli; the combination of the light vermicelli noodles, fresh mint and the sweet/sour fish sauce made it the stand out dish for the day. Another highlight was the Hanoi Noodle Soup; which contained a rich (but somehow also light) broth, rice noodles and thin sliced beef. The last stand out was the Roti bread with paprika yoghurt; although this was only a side the crisp, densely flavoured bread made me go back for a lot more than I should have.
Like the original Pawpaw Cafe the new Pawpaw Asian Kitchen has a focus on showcasing the best of Southeast Asian cuisine. The focus on high quality ingredients puts it in a class of its own for take away in the eastern suburbs.
