Mister Paganini

Overall 6.5
6.5

Pizza and pasta is so diverse. One day they can be a comfort food at home in your pj’s and the next you can be eating them at a fancy Italian restaurant. Mister Paganini in South Bank has this beautiful combination of the two where you can get gourmet Italian food but in the most comfortable setting and with homely flavours.

There is a good variety of dishes to choose from with prices to match. From starters to pizzas, pastas, main dishes, sides and desserts. You’ll also be met with an extensive drinks menu including cocktails which is where I recommend starting. The Hugo Spritz is so refreshing with Elderflower, Mint, Prosecco, Cucumber and Soda.

Bruschetta is a good way to get your palette ready for the cheesy meal to come. Tangy tomato and onion topped on a super fresh bread is hard to beat. Although the tomatoes could be more crispy and fresh in texture, the balsamic through the tomato and onion is great.

The Chef’s Special was recommended and it is every pesto lovers dream; generous lashings of basil pesto, ham and mushroom covering a delicate, freshly cooked base. The wood fire pizza is served so beautifully in a traditional, gourmet style with refined flavours. There is just the right amount of smokiness from the wood-fired pizza oven. The pizza is a considerable size also.

If pasta is more your style, the Seafood Marinara is delightful. There is a subtle hint of seafood throughout the tomato-heavy marinara sauce. Again, the serving size is very generous and is filled with seafood. The copious amount of fresh squid, prawns, baby octopus, scallops and clams were cooked to perfection.

A fantastic Italian restaurant is easily identified by their Tiramisu. Mister Paganini will not let you down. The sweetness is well balanced with the cream and coffee. The cake itself isn’t too soggy so it holds it shape and adds an additional consistency to the cream.

Mister Paganini delivers traditional Italian food exactly how you would expect it at Nonna’s house. Fresh and tasty meals, with generous portion sizes and great prices. Don’t forget to take advantage of the $5.00 parking vouchers if you enter after 5pm from Monday to Thursday.
