The heat has been taking its toll on us this summer, so it’s a rarity to find somewhere cool to hang out that truly makes you feel like you’ve stepped back into the 50’s. Enter new kids on the block Mister Fitz, serving up old school beats and ice cream sandwiches that made us melt from the inside out.
Mister Fitz was inspired by an old fashioned San Francisco Ice Creamery, and designed by Damien Griffiths to add to the collection of eateries emerging around the Valley. This place is so unique! I think it’s safe to say Brissy hasn’t had anything like this before. Building ice-cream sandwiches from scratch is certainly a novelty that won’t wear off, possibly due to the immense amount of customisation available.
The girls working here certainly know their stuff, offering samples and recommendations to those experiencing for the first time. The 50’s style outfits added to the overall look and feel of the fit out which was done perfectly! The entire building covered in flamingo pink paint makes it impossible to miss, and looks oh so inviting when passing by.
If you’re not a local to the Fortitude Valley, this place may initially be a bit a little difficult to find before it sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s tucked behind, Les Bubbles the steak house off Wickham Street. I recommend parking on the street adjacent to Little Street, as it can become a bit congested during peak times! We actually loved that it was a bit hidden, and remembered feeling like a little child, grinning from ear to ear when uncovering it!
A refreshing dessert option that certainly doesn't lack creativity. Brought back childhood memories, and will no doubt do the same to you!
