Menulog At-Home Zone at Night Noodle Markets

The hype is back for the annual Night Noodle Markets! This year's festival brings back the colourful chaos of Asian hawker vibes right in the heart of Southbank, overlooking the scenic view of the Brisbane City and right next to the iconic Wheel of Brisbane.

This year, we said goodbye to waiting in line thanks to Menulog. Among the busy hawker atmosphere of more than 23 food stalls, the Menulog team treated us with prompt delivery of food and drink at a seated environment graced with fairy lights and nightly music to set a chill and relaxed mood.

Of course, last year's food favourites are back - the signature Strawberry Watermelon Cake from Blackstar Pastry and N2 nitrogen ice-cream - so of course, it was hard to say no for a taste of summer in the middle of winter. The crunchy layers of almond dacquoise topped with rose petals, pistachio and sliced strawberry accompanied with rose-scented cream and watermelon brought a refreshing taste to the masterpiece. N2 Strawberry Watermelon Cake Smash Gelato, just like the cake itself, served a sweet tooth delight to the eye and tastebuds.

Next up was the Phoritto from Little Kyoto x Pho Real. You guessed it - Vietnamese Pho filled burritos! Naturally we grew attracted to this one so we couldn't say no. Served was a deconstructed burrito to examine all the classic elements of the dish: beef bits, spring onion, carrot, coriander, mint leaves, vercimelli and dressing, topped on a tortilla wrapper with a lemon slice on the side. One bite and the tanginess made its way with the tenderness of the beef. Who knew pho would work well in burrito form? It was so good, pho real!

Lastly was the Alpine King Salmon from Poke Bear. This bowl of goodness served up a fresh harbour: fish roe, salmon, wakami, wasabi tobiko, rice, dressings of all kinds and more! The unexpected side was the stickiness of the rice. Still, it served up a healthy meal with the right kind of flavours put together.

Opinion

This year's festival is definitely worth going back and the Menulog team were simply efficient in food delivery. Don't forget to bring your card to the event as they are cashless, and get there early!
