Grilled cheese sandwiches would have to be one of the best lazy-mans inventions to exist. Sitting on the couch, watching television with a grilled cheese sandwich in your hand is one of those really sweet moments in life. Unfortunately, most of us have jobs and it is not possible to have such satisfying comfort food while at work. Thankfully, in November last year, Melt Brothers located in Brisbane CBD, was created and changed this forever.
Also being the owner of Miss Kay’s Burger Bar, he and his brother noticed that Brisbane was missing a much needed grilled cheese sandwich restaurant. The menu may look simple but that is the beauty of grilled cheese sandwiches. The ingredients don't have to be complicated to taste good although Melt Brothers have done a great job with traditional and unique flavour pairing. Prices are on the expensive side but you will leave full and satisfied.
The whole menu looks amazing and you’ll want to try a different grilled cheese each visit. Some standouts include Holy Cheezus which is your traditional sandwich with Smoked Ham, Tomato Chutney and Aged Cheddar Cheese, a vegetarian option called Hippy Cheese and M.C. Cheesy which has Macaroni and Cheese, Maple Bacon, Chipotle Mayo and Mozzarella Cheese. There is also a New York style grilled sandwich and one with Buttermilk Fried Chicken.
This months special will make all of your Italian food dreams come true. “Uh-Oh Spaghetti-O” is simply saucy beef spaghetti, spicy salami, mozzarella cheese and parmesan between vegan friendly white sourdough and then grilled. It literally tastes like a grilled cheese sandwich, pizza and spaghetti combined. It is the ultimate food combo.
If a grilled cheese is not enough, you can get a side of crispy Tater Tots or Loaded Tater Tots. The Cheese sauce on the loaded tator tots is so creamy and is a match made in heaven when paired with crispy bacon bits and spring onion.
Melt Brothers is licensed so make your grilled cheese experience a little fancy by ordering from a selection of beer and wine. They are also the home to $3.00 barista made coffee which is pretty cheap considering their location. They use a Fonzie Abbott roast which is delicious!
If you haven’t made your way to Melt Brothers yet, now is the perfect time. Bring the comfort of your own home to the city with a quick, easy and yummy grilled cheese for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Try the “Uh-Oh Spaghetti-O” while it is still around and then make your way through the rest of the menu.
Melt Brothers brings your favourite comfort food to the city.
