Longboards Laidback Eatery & Bar centres itself on delicious gourmet burgers, cool craft beer and chilled out vibes making it impossible to miss on a trip down the coast. Now I know the colder months are on their way, but its not exactly hard to find blue skies here in our sunny state.
For food, I personally recommend the Mini Phat burger (Wagyu beef patty, streaky bacon, BBQ pulled pork, cheddar cheese, mixed lettuce, house made coleslaw, tomato, beer battered onion rings w/ PHAT sauce & sweet baby rays BBQ sauce). Now this burger was so damn big, I don’t know how I would’ve survived if I ordered the double or even the triple. The highlight of the burger was the PHAT sauce which I’d love to tell you what was in but hey, it's clearly a Longboards secret for a reason! For sides we had the parmy fries, which were a definite hit with us - but only recommended if you are a serious cheese lover. Wash this down with a Stone & Wood and you’ve pretty much completed a Gold Coast ritual that is burgers, beach and a bloody good beer.
Even going on a Saturday lunch time there is still ample seating and huge bar + seating running across the Q1 pool resort, making it super relaxing as the pool water laps beneath your feet. The huge eating area is handled well by the friendly staff; however it would be better to see table service introduced as it would help prevent parts of the orders overlooked, as we had a side forgotten and the wrong burger delivered (which was quickly rectified by the polite staff).
All in all we loved Longboards! It's a great place to go with groups of friends on a sunny afternoon after a beach sesh and surf.
