Hofer & Frei

Located in Brisbane’s CBD, Hofer & Frei is a fantastic lunch option for anyone who finds themselves down near Eagle Street.

The café has recently opened in 480 Queen Street, one of Brisbane's newest buildings and is nestled within the building food court.

Open for breakfast and lunch, the meals are fresh, tasty and reasonably priced, in contrast to your typical CBD cafe. Fantastic views of the Story Bridge are an extra bonus you won't miss!

The theme is modern Bavarian café, and Hofer & Frei pulls it off well. Hofer & Frei has all your proteins, (chicken, beef and fish) covered in a herb crumb, complimented with either beer-battered fries or sweet potato fries.

There are a wide range of wraps, like ‘The C’mon Man, ‘The Sunshine State’, or the ‘The Story Bridge’ (a very appropriate name considering the views). The menu also features burgers like ‘The Gym Junkie’ or ‘The Lot’ that tower on the plate.

There's also a wide variety of vegetarian options like the veggie schnitzel with New York Chopped Salad and Sweet Potato Wedges. And you have to try the salads - the Sommersalat or Lifestyle Quinoa Salad are the ppick of the bunch.

We tried the Lifestyle Quinoa Salad, with feta, capsicum, tomato, cucumber, spring onion, and a Hofer’s simple vinaigrette. It was fresh and crunchy with a taste of lemon throughout. The perfect healthy salad to have for lunch on those hot summer days.

If you are like me and would prefer to slip into a food coma after lunch, you need to try the ‘The Gym Junkie’. This burger is huge, containing a double schnitzel, fried egg, kingaroy bacon, baby cos lettuce, tomato, avocado and house mayo. You can even add a side of fries or salad.

But trust me, the burger will be enough!

With tasty fresh food and views of the story bridge, you can’t go wrong!

Black Book Recommendation
