Recently we were invited to Harajuju Gyoza’s CBD location to sample some of the menu offerings that would be rolled out over the summer. Nestled down Albert Lane, this place is super easy to find and could not be more perfect to those exploring Brisbane’s main shopping strip Queen St Mall. Harajuku Gyoza sets out to bring traditions of Tokyo to Brisbane by offering crispy gyozas and succulent pork belly served up with side dishes, beer and oh, and did we mention Sake?
Throughout the night we tried various different menu items such as Sweet sesame crackers, Beef Gyoza’s and Crispy Pork Belly. By far our favourite dish and recommendation from the night were the Summer Whiting Gyoza’s, which were sourced locally from the Sunshine Coast. To drink we also recommend the Hitachino White Ale on tap, or bottles of Hitachino Ginger Beer (Alcoholic). These beverages are brewed in Japan’s largest microbrewery adding to experience, and complimenting the food nicely.
This place is fun! A real experience from the moment you enter to when you leave. The staff are so enthusiastic and excited to be working, which make a refreshing change. There was no issue with ordering, and the food came out very promptly, tasting like they just came out of the pan. The fit out is here is awesome, although the same as the other locations it is consistent, new and does not feel cheap or tacky. There is an extremely high hygiene standard here, being a chain as well you can count on there being good health and safety standards which were met by our expectations.
Parking is a little tricky being the CBD. Your best bet is either street parking nearby, or if you can plan ahead book a spot in the Myer Centre just opposite. Its only $5 and you can be sure your car will be a lot safer as opposed to parking on the street.
Overall, we were extremely satisfied with Harajuku Gyoza’s offerings. Great positioning, friendly staff and tasty food give this place the two thumbs up. We think our rating reflects this nicely, but tell us what you think and rate yourself! We’d love to hear your thoughts!
Reliable for mouth-watering gyozas and other Japanese dishes. Produce as fresh as anything, great energetic atmosphere.
