Located in the Emporium complex, Deflina's Bistro serves up modern Australian dishes with a touch of European flavours and a dash of sophistication. It's clear that the warm and inviting atmosphere can be attributed to managing director Kellie-Ann Ashton’s choices in fit out, paying homage to grandmother Delfina. The restaurant offers nothing but style and grace, putting it up there in my recommendations for a great night with good wine and tasteful food.
Delfina's menu encompasses a large variety of different dishes, cantering around small and large plates designed to share with one another. Our choice from the small plates is the spiced goat loin w/Cauliflower puree, picked celery, granola, pomegranate & jus. This dish was palatable, providing the perfect level of spice and flavour, perfectly complimenting the tenderness of the loin. Other dishes had were the seared tiger prawns with tamarind nam jim, green mango, carrot, crispy ginger & chilli. I almost felt this dish was slightly Asian inspired; the produce was fresh and of premium standards, with the prawns providing great texture and sweetness to the dish.
For the main I indulged in the Sovereign lamb rump with charred eggplant, black garlic, confit, shallots & jus. The lamb was well cooked, had minimal fat and went perfectly with the jus. When the mains arrived, we were also offered a wine paring with the dish which was a great touch often forgotten about in other restaurants.
I wouldn’t normally mention sides in a review; however the potatoes really were a hit and must try when dining here as I’m sure the waiter will tell you. The dish was made up of whole potatoes with crispy bite sized pieces of crunch potato and pepperoni thrown in amongst.. Amazing!
All in all, we loved Delfinas. It's perfect for all occasions whether you’re on a date, or taking you family out for a treat. The menu and décor caters for all, and it's no surprise that Delfinas is grabbing the attention of many with its friendly staff and attention to detail.
