Cosy, cute with a warm homely feel about it, Cafe Grenadine marks itself as a genuine suburban treasure in the cafe-saturated area of Camp Hill. Housed somewhat off the beaten track down Martha Street off Boundary Road, you could drive past the cafe literally without noticing (trust me, it happens to the best!). It blends in with its surrounding houses a little too easily, so keep your eyes peeled!
Cafe Grenadine has a sophistication about it that not many cafes can boast. It’s quaint in style and petite in size, but by no means cramped. Having dined in for breakfast one morning, it’s definitely a hot-spot for the locals, and it’s easy to see why. There’s plenty of options for vegos and gluten free customers, and they certainly know how to combine bold flavours to their fullest!
If your stomach grumbles at you in the morning demanding a big, hearty breakfast, you’ll be hard pressed finding a better dish the Grenadine’s Beef short-rib hash. Accompanied by onions and served underneath a couple of poached eggs, this dish is all about the meat - as it should be! It’s tender, succulent and full of flavour.
On the other hand, if your taste buds are up and ready to get their groove on, the spicy berber omelette tagine is a breakkie you won’t forget anytime soon. I can’t say I’ve had a lot of experience with North-African inspired breakfast dishes, but these guys nailed the flavours. It’s certainly a bold, left-of-field dish, but these guys did a great job to mix the spices and flavours to perfection!
To be fair, the coffee here isn’t the best you’ll find in Brisbane, so I’d suggest to browse other selections on their drink menu. They offer a wide range of cold pressed juices, organic teas and organic sodas, the latter a perfect option on a hot Brisbane day.
Cute, quaint cafe with some left-of-field menu options to satisfy the most adventurous taste buds!
