Tucked away just off the hustle and bustle of the Queen Street Mall, you could walk past Brew for years without realising it is there.
Once you make that trip down the end of Burnett Lane, you are transported to a venue reminiscent of Melbourne with its laid back hipster vibe.
It was quite busy when we visited for brunch on Sunday morning, but the staff were still bubbly and kept on top of the tables that were already seated plus the ever growing number of people waiting for a spot.
Our waiter was full of personality and informed us straight away of the blackboard special and the items that were not available that morning. We ordered a couple of coffees to start and I can honestly say that the 'Louie Louie' blend they use was one of the best coffees I have had in years.
For brunch we ordered the Bubble & Squeak (GF) and Brew Burger from their All Day Menu which included a wide selection of breakfast items along with a couple of salads, burgers and bagels (which are also available gluten free.) As it was so busy our meals did take a little while to come out, but our waiter kept us updated and made sure our coffees were refilled.
The poached eggs sitting on top of my house made roast vegetable hash cakes were slightly overcooked and not soft poached as described on the menu, however this did not take away from the overall flavours of the dish. The brew burger looked, and tasted amazing. The accompanying sweet potato chips and aioli were delicious though.
Great service, amazing coffee and an ambience to match; Brew recreates Melbourne's iconic laneway vibes perfectly.
