On our bi-weekly breakfast hunt, questions were asked on where to find the tastiest, greenest and healthiest brekky; good for the body and good for the soul. This list isn’t just for the vegans and vegetarians though, as its time for bacon lovers to accept there are indeed just as appetizing alternate options!

Pablo is by far one of our favourite places to dine when looking for a clean, green and mean breakky. The menu here has got you covered for anything you may fancy, from breakfast triffle to ricotta hotcakes! Pablo can get super busy, but for a very special reason, so we recommend visiting on quieter day of the week. Nonetheless, the staff were friendly and efficient in getting everyone seated and served.

Modern dishes, inspired by the markets of the Middle East; Shouk Café brings some serious flavour to Brissy breakfast scene that we haven’t seen before. Its quite unlikely that you’ve never heard of Shouk, becoming a true hot spot for brunch lovers. Chasing something a bit different? The Asparagus and Peas with Baghdad butter will blow your mind. Or after something sweet.. Another favourite were the Strawberry and Pepper Berry Waffles pleasantly surprising us with its balsamic vinegar gel and caramelised pecan powder.

There's no better way to wake up than to a mountain of waffles, ice cream and fairy floss... I don't even think I need to say more but I will because our experience at Little Clive was too good! Located in Annerly, Little Clive is a modest gem nestled not too far from Brisbane's CBD. It offers generous amounts of natural light, delicious shakes, and a menu to satisfy any need.

Lady Marmalade Café
269 Logan Rd, Greenslopes QLD 4120
Great food and lots of smiles is what we found at Lady Marmalade Cafe situated in Stones Corner, making it a welcoming addition to our list, catering for all with a healthy, wholesome menu. Our pick of the bunch was the Haloumi, roast pumpkin, tomato, pesto on sourdough because c’mon, who doesn’t go mildly insane over haloumi these days. Lady Marmalade is a great local for those living on the Southside and even if you are just passing through for your morning caffeine fix.

Merriweather is a beautiful looking café in South Brisbane, serving up some of our favourite coffee. With a stylish décor and a nice open space, diners can choose to sit inside or out while enjoying food with locally sourced produce. Seasonal changes to the Merriweather’s menu means it always stays fresh and focuses largely on the ingredients supplied by experienced organic farmers.

You’ve probably driven past this place a million times, and never known it was there. LostBoys is a carbon neutral, organic vegan café and bar hidden in a magical forest tucked away on the corner of Bakery Lane. When we dined here, the menu was simple but had exactly what you want when looking for the best breakfast for veges. When you do find the menu hidden within the vintage children’s books, we recommend ordering the corn fritter stack; these things were to die for!
