One of the newer food options in the hot-spot of Portside, Atalanta Bar and Greek certainly bring something different to the table, with their traditional dishes served with an ultra-modern twist.
The restaurant itself oozes plenty class. Tables wrap around the centrally-placed bar, with the open kitchen located towards the back. The high ceilings and spacious seating give the restaurant something that’s an absolute must - atomsphere!
The menu at Atalanta offers a wide-range of dishes, but the question remains like at so many other Greek joints, ‘to share or not to share?’ We were lucky to sample a bit from both sides of the menu, starting with the Charcoaled Mixed Meat Skewers off ‘The Hunted’ section. Now, when you first think of skewers, a couple of small pieces of meat on a stick comes to mind, right? This dish will not leave you hungry, I can guarantee you that. The Beef and Prawns were no doubt the highlights, while the Pork could have been a bit leaner.
From the ‘Mezze’ section, our attention was firmly on the seafood offerings. The chilli octopus was beautifully presented, and the citrus from the grapefruit dressing left great tangy impression. However, it was the garlic braised king prawns that we enjoyed most. Cooked to perfection, the prawns were generous in size and delicious, without the garlic being too overpowering. Again, great attention to detail was given to the presentation of the plate.
Authentic Greek with a contemporary twist. Great atmosphere, perfect for big gatherings.
