5 Places to hydrate from the heat

I looked at the thermometer before and almost melted – right then and there! It’s no denying that Queensland can suffer the brut of a tropical heat wave like no other. Thank god for air-con am I right? The real question is though, how are you going to quench your thirst? Water is overrated and coffee is… well I’m sure you can guess. Here are 5 places to hydrate for the summer.

Pineapple Express

9 Portside Wharf, Hamilton QLD 4007 (1 other location)

pineapple express

Summer and fruit go hand in hand, so it is no surprise that Pineapple Express is on this list. Just thinking about the place makes me think of all the many colors of fresh fruit. Our recommendation… the Cold Killer, a refreshing juice packed with lemon, ginger, beetroot, turmeric, celery and apple. This one packs a real zing with ginger and lemon but is balanced really well by the sweetness of beetroot and apple.

1/210 Oxford St, Bulimba QLD 4171 (3 other locations)

coco bliss

The real emphasis of Coco Bliss is the superfood bowls – and they have nailed them perfectly. Most things on the menu are pretty damn refreshing, but we recommend the summer smoothie packing mango, pineapple, banana and Passionfruit all into one delicious drink. Coco Bliss also gives you the option to make your own smoothies and have heaps of customisable options. There aren’t many places that will let you add charcoal to your smoothie!

Miss Bliss Whole Foods Kitchen

85 Vulture St, West End QLD 4101

miss bliss

You really get the feeling that everything here is made with love – and it really rubs off and something you don’t find often. A real favourite of ours is the Coconut water Elixir with young green coconut w/sparkling water and fresh fruit. At a price of $6.50 as well it beats most other options and rivals for price. Make sure you you check out the Bliss Bowls as well – these things are stacked!

Kokobana spells summer, offering fresh & organic drinks with meals to balance lifestyle needs. There aren't many places in Brisbane where you can get an Acai bowl and a Pizza in the same place – but these guys have nailed it. Have a look at the RAW juices on the menu – you’ll be spoilt for choice!

Wilde Kitchen

Cnr of &, Macquarie St, Brisbane City QLD 4006

wilde kitchen

Wilde Kitchen is 100% gluten free, paleo based and promotes active lifestyle by fueling the body. We really love what the guys at Wilde Kitchen have done, providing good wholesome food and refreshing and nutritious smoothies. Our recommendation off the menu is the ‘Pink’ which incorporates mixed berries, pineapple, banana, coconut water and almond milk – yes please!
